Hello,

It has been a long while since I have talked on here, which i guess is not that good. But i have been extremely busy.

I just want to share with every one a part of my heart. I want to tell others about God, this is all. I want to live in such a way pleasing to God, I want to tell others about the amazing Truth that is Christ. My heart delights in the word of the Lord and I want others to share this Joy I have in God. Whether I am to be the Evangelist I have put prayer into, or the recent word Pastor, God has so graciously given to me. I want to Live for God. I don’t really know how to get across what I am feeling right now. Such joy that is so hard to explain.

I have another year at Nexus learning about God, who he is, what he does, what he has done, what he is going to do. I just want to learn about him and tell others what I know.

I need money, this is blunt because it is true, I haven’t got a lot. But my God owns all of the treasure in the world so why should I worry.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5

I need £7000 to survive this next year. This would cover all my tuition at Nexus and my living costs. I know it is a lot of money, thats why this is going out. If 70 people were to give me £10 a month, I would be good.

I hate asking for money but it is necessary in this world for me to continue doing what God has for me at this time.

So faithful to your word. Just to fall back into your arms and find comfort is where my heart wants to be. To blank out the cries and distorted noise of this world so I can hear you so clearly. Father, you are my hearts desire and to follow you is what is needed right now. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow death your light is there, so blinding, more than that of the suns glorious shine at midday! Dad, I love you so much and no matter what I say my words don’t even make it close to who you really are, how mighty, how glorious, how amazing, how magnificent you actually are. The word Perfect doesn’t even come close to your perfection. Lord, I long for you because without you I am less than nothing. News Letter

Hello all,

This year at Nexus has been brilliant. From the start to now I have seen God shape who I am so I can be used effectively in the Kingdom. In September I wanted to be me bassist in a Band than Evangelist for God, I know it sounds wrong but that is the way I saw it. As the year has gone by I have been studying into God’s word and seeing biblical characters change by who God is. I have studied what it is to have a Kingdom heart and one for God, not just being an enthusiastic Christian. All of this learning is only half of the story, the other half is how I have applied what I know into my own life. I want to change the view of myself, I don’t want to be Sam, a man who plays bass really well and studies the Bible at Nexus. I want to be Sam, a man after God’s own heart who is all out for him. I don’t feel my time at Nexus is to finish this year so I applied for a second year to continue my path towards Evangelism and Music. I got in (whoop) and now I am preparing for Next year but still obviously working hard now. I have Gospel Concerts coming up on the 28th which by the time you read this will only be 4 days away!

Also I have just taken part in an amazing event ingeniously named Busking, it is all in the title really. Me and two others start in Stratford Upon-Avon and busk. With the money raised from the busking session, we use that money to travel and we ended up in POLAND. We won this competition!! AWESOME!! We also got a lot of offers for Gigs in the summer. We will be playing at a Street party, we will be on the busking rota in Stratford Upon-Avon, A wedding, and also we were asked if we could play at an opening of a new Hotel. All from a Fund-raiser.

I was Romans during my personal bible study and I felt I should look into this verse….. I feel like this is something I should share.. So here it is..

Romans 12:12: “Have Ecstatic Happiness in the desire and knowledge of Christ, Do not be hasty or impulsive during times of pain, difficulty and annoyance but be calm and remain firmly devoted when you pray to God.”

I know we can all get different things from the Bible, but I was told not hide something which someone could benefit from!

Some of you may know that each year at Nexus we have a Rag Week where all of the Students and Staff take on activities exciting and awesome to raise some money for the School itself.

I am in an event called Busking!!! Pretty self explanatory, but so you know, Me and 2 others will be busking around Coventry. With the money we get from busking, we use that to travel, we keep going and keep busking until we have got as far away as possible… We need to travel,  food and water ourselves with the money we attain from busking. March Newsletter..

Hello,

It has been a while since I last wrote, for this I am sorry. A lot has been happening so I will try to fill you all in.

JANUARY

The Nexus year resumes into term 2 and I am excited as ever. Just getting back into normal Nexus life was easy and I was soon back working as hard as normal. The first exciting thing to happen would be the ‘Intreat’, like a retreat but it is held at Nexus for all the students to lay down music for a while and search for God with No distractions what so ever. Mobiles were asked to be left at home or turned off during the day and in our house we decided not to use the internet. The Intreat took place over 3 and a half days, Wednesday night, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, full of talks, worship slots and fun. The talks were about what church really is, how it isn’t just a building and how the Church is the Bride of Christ, all thrilling stuff!! For me though, I didn’t feel like I was connecting like I could. I felt very dry spiritually which I am certain many of you have felt before. Throughout all of the worship I didn’t feel as though God was about, I didn’t feel any emotion inside, I didn’t really know who I was. I tried to reach God by giving my all and not letting up, not just giving up on him, to persevere. On Saturday night, we had a time were we could encourage others. It was a time where we could go up to someone who we can encourage genuinely and receive encouragement.  During this time, someone came to me and told me Exactly who God sees, I felt like it wasn’t them talking, it was God. Since then I have had a totally transformed Heart in worship, it is not just an emotional feeling but it is knowledge that God is worth giving your all to even when you don’t feel like he is there.

FEBRUARY + MARCH

Unfortunately my memory for February is very limited. At the End of Feb, I was asked to play bass at the Cathedral for the evening praise. This was amazing, meeting new people (all of whom are students) and just getting to know humans outside of Nexus and my Church. I have now played at the Cathedral 3 times and made many a new friend. One of the greatest findings was to meet Chloe Merrix at one of the services, we had some good fun catching up.

I am on the Rag week team for Fund-raising. Rag week is a yearly event at Nexus. It is a week were students and staff of the school take part in various events normally involving some sort of  Physical challenges and gain sponsorship for events to help with funding Nexus as a school. This year we have ABC challenge, Busking, Drumathon, Musical, and Run Britain. I am taking part in the busking. We will have a small team who starts locally and tries and raise money for travelling as far as possible, linear miles is what we are going for. Rag week is in the middle of May, I will get back to you if any of you guys wants to sponsor me for the amount of miles my team can achieve. Remember the funds go to Nexus as a School, not to pay my term fees.

Oo, I have now handed my Second Year application in, for as you already know, I would love to stay at Nexus a Second year. This is so I can get a firm foundation on the Bible so I may teach others the great news that is God’s word.

I am quite nervous about being accepted back, I am not sure what they will think of my application. I do know tat what ever happens, God knows what is going on, Trust and faith in him are becoming ever more important.

The New Year and Plans. Newsletter

Hey.

I hope you guys are all fine and I pray that you are all well rested from Christmas and had a really great New years. As the new year is here I have some new plans to share to you guys.

As you all know, I am having a brilliant God filled time at Nexus with all the bible work and worship that goes on. I am beginning to understand God more and my heart for evangelism grows. My Church, Kings Community Church in Cheylesmore, is a great place for me to be. The atmosphere is so well suited for me, the teaching is thrilling and the worship is exhilarating. I am being mentored by a great man named Steve who is encouraging me to become what God has intended for me. I have amazing friends at Kings through which cater for me on a Sunday and look after me like I am their brother.

The New year is here and you can never be too early to pray about the future. Next year I am staying on at Nexus music college because I feel that being a young evangelist I can learn so much from another year there, not just Nexus but staying at Kings next year feels like it is right. I fit in well there and feel like I have found my own Church. Nexus will also be able to teach me the skills of which I really want to start developing; teaching.

It has fallen upon my heart to become a Bass music teacher. At Nexus, my Bass tutor Sam would love to help me reach grade 8 at the Bass guitar next year and by achieving this, I will be able to start teaching. He will let me lead some of the classes next year towards Terms 2 and 3. I need to have been teaching privately and/or at a place like Nexus for 3 years before I can try to qualify as a professional teacher, which is where I want to be. Staying in Coventry feel like this is right for me, and I know God is with me throughout the rest of the year and onwards.

Next Year!!

Hello all of my lovely readers. I hope you are all doing well!

As one term comes to an end at Nexus, one amazing term might I add, I start thinking about it. I Have learnt so much more about Gods character and who I am in him. I have learnt so much about the bible and I am starting to get a good foundation from the bible. From lectures with Dave which are known to go on sometimes (which are always ace), to Discovery group times (like a Cell in the college). Being at Kings community Church is great, the friendly attitude and the cell groups are awesome.

I have also Learnt a ton on the bass guitar. Reading music, simple slap, technique, scales and theory. So much has developed me and I don’t want that development to stop. So, after talking to many people at Nexus including my tutor, I have decided to do another year there. I love it so much and believe I can be a good leader there for a second year. I have thought about it a lot and prayed and feel that it is right for me.

Christmas!

The time nears Christmas and just before that, my Birthday! Christmas Concert preparations go on, and we work hard. Thursday is the first night, and I know it will be epic, I am truly excited about it. Only four songs are being bass-ified by me, which is enough in my books. As for the rest of Nexus work, I have my fair share of Bible work. Keep encouraging me friends, I am grateful for all that you do and the impact you may or not realise you have in my life.

This is a small Blog, but soon I am to return to the little place of Pembroke Dock. Back to life, but bringing my new life with me. I look forward to seeing you all again, stay classy Sammy j fans.

News letter!

Now we are well into the Nexus year, lots of work to do, lots of bass to play, lots more of God to discover. Amazing! I am having so much fun here, it is incredible. From encounter on a Monday where we sing to God, to Wednesdays theory lesson up until ”cake Friday” were one of the bass students brings in a cake for the whole class. What a brilliant idea!!

At the Moment we are planning towards the Christmas concert which will be epic. We are put into Bands and we present a song each week, and our tutors tell us what needs to be done to make the song as best as it possibly can. At the same time as this, I am working towards my Week 10 assessment. This covers everything we learnt in the previous weeks. Besides all of the bass stuff, we are into the book of Ruth. I am actually going through the Bible and discovering so much about God, he is AMAZING. One thing I may add here, the book of Numbers, Balaam and the talking donkey. What an awesome story, and I love that when the donkey talks he just answers and is not phased. Hilarious.

I hope that you guys are staying in good shape, keep praying for me. I know this year is going to be so relevant to me for the future.

Thoughts…..

Thoughts, they are a funny thing, from an imaginary world where there is safety and bliss, to a when and an if about the future. They take you away out far and back again, in less than a second. A place where you could be lost in a jungle to the highest mountain, a place where I am lost more often than not. My heart, the most fragile thing. Thoughts of it being safe away from pain and hurt. Lost in a world of musical emotion is where I like to be, the sound of some ones heart written to notes. I am not trying to write some amazing lyrical content here… I am writing what I think.

My thoughts take me to places unknown, to places sometimes I wouldn’t want to go. They take me to a good life, and a not so brilliant. My thoughts, take me away…… away from it all… it’s funny where we can be led, by our small brains. Day dreaming is a place where I will end up because it is a familiar, the other familiar place I tend to end is having thoughts about the not so great me. I think of something, and it goes wrong, or I drive people away. I think of how it could be, but it never will be because of my thoughts. I wonder how I have the things I have, and other people don’t. I wonder about silly things that have a huge effect on me, but  a small on someone else. Thoughts about one little thing someone said or did, without even meaning to it affects me in huge ways, and I ponder about why did I do what I did, what a Muppet I can tend to be. Some how I have managed to fill a lot in, what a crazy brain I have. I have come to the conclusion that this is half silly, the other half worse. Why am I led by wondering and pondering.
